My story

Ever since I can remember I have been obsessed with reading and writing stories, the earliest books I can remember reading as a child was ‘Rebecca’s World’ by Terry Nation and ‘Lassie Come Home’ by Eric Knight and being traumatised by the ‘The Green Ribbon’ (if you know, you know…)

I can remember being in Primary School and getting so excited every time we got to write stories for English, I would be the one who always asked the teacher for more lined paper so I could write twenty page stories. The earliest story I can remember writing was when I was in year 4 about a girl who found a Pegasus and rode it to a magical land.

But everything changed when I read ‘The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe’ by C.S Lewis. This is the book that added more fuel to my imagination and created a flame that hasn’t gone out since. Over the years more authors and their books have inspired me and the flame has grown into a roaring fire, ‘The Wind on Fire’ series by William Nicholson, ‘The Forest Wife’ by Theresa Tomlinson, ‘His Dark Materials’ by Phillip Pullman and of course the ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’.

It has been an long and arduous journey but in spite of all the difficulties, all the agonising moments, I have enjoyed it. Seeing my story and my characters come to life has been wonderful and seeing my story in print is a feeling I can’t describe.

‘In Darkness & Light’ is for anyone who has ever dreamed of publishing their own book, for anyone who has ever had a story that just wont leave them and to you I say, you can make it happen, never stop dreaming and never give up!
